In our reading today, God shares a promise with Noah (Genesis 9). We also see the pride of men leading to sin in Genesis 10. In contrast we learn how to withstand temptation by the example of Jesus in Matthew 4

Genesis 9:3 all living things are given for food.
Genesis 9:4 God demands an accounting for our fellow mankind and all animals.
Genesis 9:20 nothing good comes from drunkenness.
Genesis 10:1-32 the answer to the command of Genesis 9:1
Genesis 11:1-4 note the "let us" - Man wishing to create his own religion.
