Today's Bible Reading:
Proverbs 15, 16; 2 Corinthians 1
Today's Verse:
A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1
Today's Tip:
Although we believe it is best to read your Bible early in the morning, some people find it easier and rewarding to read it before going to bed. If you do so, be sure not to skip it because you are too tired.
Jim's Notes
Proverbs 15 is rich with snippets of advice. Perhaps it could be summed up in verse 32: "Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence." Possibly one of the best known proverbs is found in Proverbs 16:18. Barnes Notes introduction to 2 Corinthians says, "It has been generally admitted that this epistle is written without much definite arrangement or plan. It treats on a variety of topics mainly as they occurred to the mind of the apostle."
